We recognise and embrace our responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and are fully committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all our employees (including external partners, customers and visitors). This is paramount in everything we do! The company-wide Health and Safety ethos that emanates from Directors down to site operatives has enabled an exemplary level of safety and teamwork to be achieved. We have demonstrated our commitment to maintain and improve our H&S management systems by achieving accreditation in BS OHSAS 18001:2007.
Ron Hull Demolition Limited is a member of the British Safety Council and has secured SAFEcontractor status for Health and Safety standards and the Contractors Health and Safety certification mark (CHAS), and has also gained us the NFDC's (National Federation of Demolition Contractors) Quality Assurance Award in recognition of our excellent site standards, safe working methods and management systems.
We comply with the British Standard Code of Practice for Demolition – BS6187:2000 which recommends good practice methods for demolition (partial and whole) as well as decommissioning of sites, buildings and structures, taking into account safety, health and environmental issues – particularly with regard to:
- The proper and effective management of the demolition process
- Maintaining structural stability – using temporary support where necessary
- Managing deliberate structural collapse
This Standard requires Ron Hull Demolition to
- Identify and establish responsibilities during all phases of the demolition process
- Acquire adequate knowledge of the site – including its former uses
- Apply appropriate environmental management
- Successfully manage Health and Safety hazards
- Carry out initial and continuous Risk Assessments in order to plan work accordingly
- Establish effective management procedures
- Determine and manage safe exclusion zones

Staff Expertise
Ron Hull Demolition have a large team of highly experienced, directly employed personnel and recognise that they are our greatest asset and that their continuous professional development is paramount to ensuring that the Company continue to maintain and enhance our excellent Health and Safety record.
We believe that continuous training and development of all our staff to the highest level possible is crucial to the ongoing success of the company, to the Ron Hull Group, and to the ongoing commitment of its Health and Safety objectives.
To this end, we
- offer all site operatives training to the highest certified standards available, thus contributing to our excellent safety record and ensuring adherence to the best and most current practices and techniques. All demolition operatives hold recognised CITB cards for their given trade, with CCDO cards for demolition operatives to CPCS cards for all our plant operatives. All operatives also have Safety Passports in a variety of industries including CCNSG, EUSR, PTS;
- equip all our staff with the latest Safety Clothing and equipment for the job that they undertake;
- ensure that rigorous and regular training and strict Company policies ensure that suitable precautions are in place for the safe operation of all our plant and equipment processes;
- require staff competency training and experience within their respective job areas for all recruitment opportunities.
Ron Hull Demolition gained ConCom recognition for Contractor Competency in improving our work systems to contribute to a sustained workforce competency level.
